I have not experienced what you are going through, but if your neurologist suggested you apply for disability I would take his advice.

You can make an appointment at your local Social Security office to find out all the information you will need. Your doctor will also have to fill out some forms. You can also fill those forms out on line.

I feel you qualify for disability. But know this, people who apply for disability usually get rejected the first time they apply.

Once you have filed and been rejected the first time, find a reputable lawyer who specializes in disability. With a lawyers help, you more than likely will get on disability the second or even third time you apply.

Keep copies of everything you need to send in for disability. That will make the second or third time you apply for disability easier

You certainly qualify for disability. A Traumatic Brain injury can impair physical disabilities, difficulty thinking and changes in mood. Changes in mood can include anxiety or depression. For these reasons, this is why your Doctor advised for you to apply for Disability.

The site is timed, therefore you only have an approximate amount of time to complete the application. You will need your Doctors names, address and diagnosis. The more complete the medical history, the quicker the claim will be processed. I'm sure you will not be denied.

I would strongly urge you to work with a disability attorney and not try to do this alone for several reasons:
There are many deadlines in applying for disability and if you miss one of them you have to start the process all over.
If your wording is not such that the disability office needs to hear you don't qualify'
With an attorney you can see results as quick as six months, without one you may be years in trying to qualify.
An attorney can get your benefits retro active to begin in 2008 when your disability began, or the day you could no longer work.
The government sets the percentage that an attorney can charge.
I used a large disability legal firm by the name of Binder and Binder, you can find them online and in the yellow pages. I was very please at the ease and the quickness at which they were able to qualify me for my benefits.

First apply for your social security disability and then get a lawyer you always need one and just go forward from there and leave things in the lawyers hands about that then they are always coming up with new things so they may yet find new ways to help you I know it is hard to just get sick all of the sudden because I did and it's like people don't see it so that's hard too

If your Doctor told you to apply for Disability go ahead and do it, he or she is your friend and your best advocate in addition to your Parents or Family.
